Celebs who were in sororities

Buzzfeed article. (Love the tag line !).

http://www.buzzfeed.com/emilyhennen/...sorority-girls

The author got 1 wrong - Heather Locklear. And, the list could have been MUCH longer!

Considering that Golden West College is a two-year institution I don't think there's ever been an ADPi chapter there, so I doubt that Michelle Pfeiffer is an ADPi.

Also I'm pretty sure this entire article was a contest by the editors to see who could pick the ugliest possible pictures of all these actresses.

joliebelle 02-28-2014 02:23 PM

They also picked the wrong Vanessa Williams.
Google is your friend, buzzfeed.

eta: I wish that this was titled celebs who are sorority alumnae (or something). I don't take offense to the phrase 'sorority girl', but it's a bit ridiculous to apply that to fairly distinguished women.

Bette Midler is wrong too. She's not a DPhiE. We've never had a chapter in Hawaii. AGD is the only NPC in Hawaii.

These lists are annoying.

And those women ARE in sororities.

I also don't like "girls".

Lent is coming, must use up as much annoyance as possible.

It looks like Michelle Pfeiffer is plausible
http://www.alphadeltapi.org/muohio/default.asp?id=1018 although this is a chapter website. So it still may not be accurate.

Chapter websites are notorious for furthering these false sorority membership legends. Michelle Pfeiffer was not in a NPC sorority.

My understanding, correct or not, is that Michelle Pfeiffer had pledged Alpha Delta Pi, but quit to pursue her acting career.

I'm a little surprised at the number of actress not included. My personal favorite is Alpha Delta Pi Jean Smart, who share my birthday, if not birth year. :)

Pfeiffer's only college education was at Golden West Community College.

I'm sure Michelle Pfeiffer was an Alpha Delta Pi. I'm also pretty sure she wasn't in Scarface or Grease 2. Many of these celeb rumours start because someone saw an ordinary person with the same name on a chapter roll or in the sorority directory.

True. Michelle Pfeiffer is definitely not an Alpha Delta Pi. There's a list of Accomplished Members here.

And as much as I like Jean Smart, I would have used Danica McKellar (Winnie from The Wonder Years and the author of two books designed to empower young women in mathematics) as an example of Alpha Delta Pi.

Actually, Michele Pfeiffer WAS in both of those movies.....

Unless that comment was sarcastic...then sorry for the correction.

Peace!

BG -- you misunderstood 33's post. She is saying that Michelle not an actress Pfeiffer is an ADPi, and that Michelle not an actress but is an ADPi Pfeiffer was not in the movies because .... She is not an actress. If you read the thread, there often is a lot of mistaken identity with common names. I'll bet Katy Perry is in a sorority too.

I loved The Wonder Years, and because I am not a math person. I'm even more impressed that she has authored books to empower women in math, as when I was in high school, there was a bit of a slant against women because even a decade or so ago, teachers thought oh girls/women aren't quite as good at math. So I'm glad that she wrote those books (Danica is very close in age to me so I wonder if she had similar experiences that inspired the books).
