Katie Couric and the Tri-Delts

I don't know if anyone else saw this on the Today's show this morning, but there were some Tri-Delts from UVA in the crowd on the Today's show and Katie Couric(who is a Tri-Delt) did the lirrle Tri-Delt sign for them and said hi. It was so cute and such a good representation of the Greek system--Katie Couric definately has respect and charm, like so many sorority girls!! So, feel proud Tri-Delts--you were represented well!

When the TODAY Show anchors did features on their Alma Maters a few months ago, part of Katie's was a visit to the Tri Delt House at UVA.

It's great, not only that she mentions that, but that all of them are supportive of their universities. Matt Lauer (who, to the best of my knowledge is not Greek) is an Ohio University graduate (and fellow Bobcat) and has mentioned it a number times.

It's great for the colleges and the Greek System.

I wish I would have seen that.

Me too!!!

Katie Couric is the best anchorwoman in the country! No wonder she makes more money than most people (in that industry) as a woman! She is truly the bomb! I'm sure she represented well. I missed that one though :(

I saw this online clip-- it's on NBC's site somewhere...dunno if it's still there...

Just so you don't have to watch the whole thing, she visits the house during the last minute of the broadcast.

wow, thanks for the clip. Saw the whole thing. She did a nice job.

That video clip made me proud to be a fellow Wahoo alum. Katie is a wonderful representative of our university and did an excellent job with her story.

The school looks beautiful! Except for the part about going outside to get to the bathroom..is that supposed to be an honor? Just kidding!

Honestly, I'm not wild about Katie, I prefer Diane Sawyer..but then again, Katie does work with Matt Lauer!!

Does anyone know if Katie is active with Tri Delts? Attend monthly meetings, etc.? To me, that would be more impressive. It's great to say that you are a member of such-and-such organization, but no one benefits much if you don't participate NOW.

Not to make waves or anything, but, Katie has also made statements in the past regarding greek life in general that were not really supportive.

I don't remember the exact quote, but, in regards to recent incidents and the current changes with greek life, she made some sort of remark last year regarding "going to the frat house for a keg party" or something similar. Given the current campus' climates across the country, with many risk management issues, she could have been more supportive by withholding such remarks.

She's not the only one to do so by far...I hear examples often on TV and radio from people that were greek in college, making remarks that frankly are irresponsible and disrespectful to the current greek environment. It could simply be that they are not aware of how much things have changed. IMO, it just helps to perpetuate a false reality of what greek life is today.

LXA Alum, I know what you mean, but I would rather she speak of her Greek experience as fun and positive, rather than be like Brad Pitt who I've heard make denigrating comments about the whole thing. For better or worse, that's how it was when she was there, and she enjoyed it. I don't think anyone is going to say "hmmmm, let's track down that fraternity that Katie tapped a keg with." If we start ripping on alums, ANY alums, for anything they say, none of them are going to want to be supportive.

I recently finished working at Tri Delta's national headquarters. They have a copy of the tape so if any Tri Delta's want to see it, just call them. And to answer the question about Katie going to alumnae meetings, etc? No, she's not currently active in an alumnae chapter.
