College Ring -- Did you get yours?
So, I'm debating when to buy my ring. I want a traditional style like this

Also, did you put your greek letters on the stone or side? I'm thinking of putting mine on the stone.

My sister did! Not exactly sure if she wears it though lol
My mom got hers (she's a nongreek) and it's like the most important ring to her (after her wedding band of course!) |
I initially got one for my undergraduate institution, but the women's version did not look good at all--the images stretched out and looked odd and it was just too small (yet the smallest men's ring was too bulky to look feminine), so I returned it. The official version offered for my graduate institution is just plain ugly. I would *love* to get one for each school in the future, were they to offer more appealing options, but no dice for now. :(

I had one but it wasn't traditional. It was a gold band with three small diamonds in a diagonal shape. A boy I dated in my 20s took it to wear on a chain around his neck when we were "going together" and I never got it back. *sigh* I don't see wearing a traditional one years later, but something less obvious was nice to have.

I got mine! The only class ring I ever got and will most likely ever get is from my undergraduate institution. I got my letters on the side of it and my initials engraved on the inside. I wear it all the time!

I got my undergraduate ring, and I went traditional, but plain. I don't have anything on the sides, but I had them engrave my sorority name on the inside of the ring. Otterbein's rings have a crest set on the stone, so no letters there. I went for the women's model (a good choice), with plain shanks and in silver since I don't wear yellow gold.
British universities don't do rings so much, but I've contemplated getting a signet ring like the one below, again in silver. I wear my university tartan scarf often, though. http://www.evalondon.com/media/catal...glar2042-1.jpg |
My undergraduate alma mater was known for it's uniform rings - one style for men and one style for women. Almost no personalization. I didn't get one. I wasn't going to spend the money if I couldn't get my letters on it.

When I graduated, I was in "I ALREADY GAVE YOU ENOUGH MONEY I'M OUTTA HERE" mode, so I didn't get one. I'm thinking of getting one in the near future, though. Ours allows for customization, so I'll likely get my letters on it.

I haven't graduated yet but you and I are ------>HERE<------- on that. |
I got the female small oval signet for my university. Any mockup that included my sorority letters ended up looking strange, so I got my degree (BS Ed) and class year on the sides. I....have no flipping idea where it is right now. Probably hiding somewhere with my high school class ring. I kind of wish now that I had gotten a Pi Phi ring instead.

I wanted one but knowing I was about to be a dirt poor college grad trumped that. Was planning on white gold, psychology symbol on one side, letters on the other side, with emerald.
I would probably change that slightly now so maybe it's a good thing I didn't get it. |

I graduated at the turn of the millennium; so, I ordered a limited edition ring that had a special design on the side. It's the style of the one on the bottom with my university's seal as the design on the top. I like it because it is a class ring without looking too similar to a high school ring. I already had a traditional style high school class ring (ironically enough, looks just like the top ring in the photo) and didn't want to pay a lot of money for a second similar-looking ring. My college ring I can easily wear with it blending in nicely with most any outfit. Like PhoenixAzul, I attended grad school in the UK. I didn't bother to purchase a ring as it doesn't seem to be a "thing to do" in the UK. |
^^^Mine looked like that, the sleek "ladies" style. I got my college ring but don't remember exactly what was on it. :p I think I had music notes on one side (for the choir) and a cross on the other.
