Greek Facts and Tidbits..?
Not trying to start any kind of greek war or competition here, but does anyone know of any website that has greek facts such as what frat/soro has the most chapters? Who has the most members? Most websites? I always here people talking about this kind of stuff, but i dont know where it comes from?
Thanks! |
I don't know of one resource for that info... your best bet would check at national web pages. Or contact the inter/national headquarters. I know TKE has a ton of chapters, but not sure if they're the "largest" fraternity. You can also check Baird's Manual of American College Fratenities, but it will be a bit out of date (I think the last publication was 1991).
You'll have to do a bit of research to find all of the info. ------------------ SilverTurtle@greekchat.com Phi Beta Fraternity Phi chapter |
Check out the Fraternity Executive Association...I'm sorry I don't have the url on this computer.

I checked out the Open Directory Project at http://dmoz.org/Society/Organization...d_Sororities/. Alpha Gamma Delta has the most chapters and alumnae chapters/clubs with websites! I think at this point we have about 126 sites out there. The ODP is a comprehensive list of every Greek site out there and it may be of some help to you!
I'll look for this source, but I remember reading in some manual that Diana Lam (initiated into AGD-U. of British Columbia chapter in 1953) was the first Asian-American, non-Caucasian woman to be initiated into a NPC Fraternity. Barbara Delaney was the first African-American in an NPC Fraternity, initiated in 1957 into Sigma Kappa. Alpha Gamma Delta is also the first (and only--so far) NPC Fraternity to colonize in Hawaii (my chapter!). ------------------ "I don't know the secret to success, but one sure way to failure is to try and please everyone."--Bill Cosby Visit Alpha Gamma Delta-Delta Sigma chapter and help some sisters out! |

check out the member information |
Greekzone has the same type info as fea.com, but they both need some updating. Same for the last Baird's (I know my group's info in the last Baird's was from 1977).
Plus some orgs when you ask info for these sites you have to be very specific....such as, number of CHARTERED chapters is not the same as the number of ACTIVE chapters. If you want accurate specifics about a certain group, the best route is to contact that group's national headquarters. |
I don't know about fraternities, but for sororities, Chi Omega has the most chapters and Alpha Gamma Delta has the most websites.
