Should we kick him out?

Ummm, one of our brothers just got suspended for a year for snatching almost a $1000 credit from the university. When he comes back, do you think he should keep his priledges of being a member in our fraternity?

Are you in a national org? If so your bylaws should have something about the status of members who have been disciplined by the university. There also may be conditions set by the university when he returns about his eligibility to participate in extracurriculars. In other words, you may not have to even worry about it because the school might say he can't be active anyway.

Yeah, and a pretty popular one too!

One of the chapters that I advise had a situation. One of the sisters got busted supplying alcohol for her underage boyfriend and apparently some drugs were involved as well. In any case, she got busted by the cops, and she stepped down immediately from her office, and she was suspended by the sorority. You gotta do something when people do things that are unbecoming a brother or sister. They are a member of your org, yes, but they are also disgracing your group with their conduct.

Just a thought...

A lot of time "conduct unbecoming" is a matter of whether the person gets caught officially.

Usually people know what is going on . . . but no one says anything unless there is some type of official/public scrutiny.

Then we throw the book at the person . . . make an example . . . or like the proverbial slay ride being chased by predators, we throw them to the wolves to by freedom for the rest of us.

This kind of goes back to the 11th commandment: Thou Shalt Not Get Caught.

If you keep the 11th commandment you can get away with almost anything . ..

Anyway: I am not sure this is completely fair, we either need to enforce things ourselves when we know wrong is happening at least stop sacrificing people.

This doesn't necessarily apply directly to your two cases, but is more a generic observation.

Integrity is not a sometime thing, its an all the time thing, and integrity and honor are really those small choices and victories made when no one is watching.

One day last semester me and my friends were walking down the hallway outside the cafeteria, and I started to goof around. I grabbed my boobs and bounced them up and down, I thought that we were the only people in the hallway. Then, my friend told me to look behind me it was like 7 people, 6 of them were male janitors. They could not believe their eyes, I probably gave them all erections!

SH80, every day your posts keep reminding us of old friends.

So..let me get this straight...you were once a Zeta. Were you initiated? You do know that once you are initiated into an NPC Fraternity you aren't allowed to be initiated into another, right?

Folx, the story is beginning to sound familiar.

How's about another round of dueling banjos!

carnation 05-28-2001 03:00 PM

Yeah, OTW, it's the tag team again and SH80 probably stands for Sorority Hater, born in 1980,i.e. Kristin. She was dying to be a Zeta as well as in other sororities and I guess you've heard that NPC has made a great effort to put out an all-points bulletin telling the sororities that this girl is poison plus and will try to do anything to get in another GLO, so watch out for her.

When they were posting as "somethinstupid", they also claimed to be Alpha Phi Omega plus members of 2 different sororities: Alpha Chi and AGD, as I recall. They have this little problem with keeping their stories straight: I'm a guy, no I'm a girl, I'm Greek, no I'm not! I forget what group I'm in. I'm a great Christian--oh no, I bounced my boobs and gave these guys erections!

They seem to think they're annoying us but actually they're giving us a good time laughing at their incredible trashiness and stupidity!

No, I did not initiate for ZTA, I dropped out as a neophyte a few weeks before initiation.

I'm not going to lie, I probably do remind you of your "old friends". I guess we have the same sense of humor!

No, again. SH80 is just a funky way spelling "shady". I'm not a sorority hater and I was born in 1981! I never said that I was a guy and a non-greek.

HeidiHo 05-28-2001 04:54 PM

I'm hoping that by Shady, you mean that you like the shade of trees. To me, another kind of shady is no good, if you catch my drift.
