Another Question
What is a letter of Interest? How long does it have to be and what does it consist of?
|
A "letter of interest" is exactly what it says... a letter expressing your interest. What you "say" write depends on what you feel. Look at it this way. Your letter will be read by the membership. What would you like for the membership to know about you? Why are you "interested". This is your chance to say it.
Make sure you SPELL CHECK and spell out the name of the entire organization...not their nickname. Be personal, professional, clear and humble. Remember membership is a priviledge not a guarantee. (If you are unsure of the length, its better to ask. Some chapters don't limit letter lenght...others want no more than 2 pages) Quote:

Make sure you DO NOT submit your letter in handwriting. Once there was a girl that submitted letter was handwritten on loose leaf paper. She actually turned the letter in at the "rush." She actually said that she did not know it had to be typed. We all thought she was not serious in her efforts. And she thought is was a joke. Of course, you know she was rejected. We all were shocked at the fact that she would actually turn in anything like that. I know that you realize that the letter must be typed, but pass on this information to others. I am sure there could be someone else like this young woman out there. Good Luck in your endeavors! [This message has been edited by AKA2D '91 (edited May 01, 2000).] |
I remeber stressing over my letter, but in the end the only thing that you need to do is be truthful. Don't try to sound like you are over-educated or you are giving "interview answers". Just tell why you want to be a member and how you plan on helping the sorority
