Attempted armed robbery at the UCLA Alpha Phi house
http://dailybruin.com/2014/01/21/169076/
All the sorority houses at UCLA are on Hilgard Ave. From top of hill: Gamma Phi, AGD, AEPhi (not active), Phi Mu (not active), Alpha Chi, DG, Pi Phi, Chi O, Alpha Phi, Theta, Kappa, KD, ADPi, Tri Delta. |
Sorry to hear. Glad no one was hurt.

So do the sororities at UCLA, or at least Alpha Phi, not lock their doors during the day?
|
To the best of my knowledge, all NPC groups instituted 24 Hr lockup after Ted Bundy. However, I also know college women. The door could have been propped open or he could have walked in with someone...

This is an ongoing concern. The facility entryways are not "gated" or secured in any way. Anyone can ring the doorbell and the actives are told "answer the door when the bell rings". So - they do, and anyone can readily gain access to the facility.
Frankly, I'm waiting for much worse news before we become proactive about this. |

Cameras where you have to identify yourself to be admitted would be one way. Security guards - which many already have overnight.

DGTess, I'd like to see some sort of security door system. Here in AZ we have wrought iron security doors that are screened. They can be installed in a way that is attractive but also protective of the occupants. You can open the front door without permitting anyone to gain immediate entrance to your home.
