Question about spring recruitment and being involved with other organizations?

Hi, so my friend invited me to an event for spring recruitment. I went and loved it. I went to the next event, and well I'll be going to the last event. Going to these events and meeting the girls have made me really anxious to join a sorority but I'm concerned because I have leadership positions in two clubs and a job that might conflict with the sorority meeting times. When I asked my friend who invited me she told me they would meet Sundays for chapters and have workshops or retreats on the weekends which my schedule allows. I was also told by one of the sisters that new member meetings would be on days that I would have my club meetings/work. Should I wait to rush in fall? How do others manage their time? I really want to join if I'm given a bid but don't want my schedules to conflict?

And what did your friend who invited you say when you asked her? You did ask her, didn't you?

Chapter and new member meetings are generally held on a set night of the week. They do not change from semester to semester. If you have schedule conflicts, then you may be forced to choose between activities. Choices to make!

Well, she never mentioned it but I'll ask next time I see her. To be honest, it's only one night that I can't commit on a weekly basis every other day can be scheduled around it.

Ask your friend, or whoever has been presented as the pledge class educator about meetings. I know for our chapter, we try to work around most new member schedules, but some organizations have set days already.
I was very involved in college when I joined my organization - 2 executive board offices for campus government organizations, along with leadership positions in 2 more organizations. I had 21 hours the semester I joined, had office hours for one org 3 days a week, and then became an executive board member for Pi Phi the semester after initiation. Just like anything, you find the time. I always had to make sure I had my homework done by Saturday, because Sundays were busy for me, with chapter, exec, and the weekly meeting for campus government.
Ask chapter members questions about time commitment - I knew ahead of time exactly what was expected of me as a member or new member. I knew we had some required events on weeknights, but that most things were on Sundays.

That's an appropriate question to ask at the next recruitment event. "Susie, can you tell me the day and time of new member meetings?"
