Pledging as a junior??

I am currently attending Widener University but I will transferring to Rutgers University next year for my junior year. I really want try rushing a sorority there but I'm a bit hesitant about it since I'm going to be a junior :/ I never tried rushing before at my current school because I knew I wanted to transfer from here and I was just wondering what the chances are of me getting a bid as a junior? Rutgers, the school I'm transferring to, has recruitment in the fall and transfer students are allowed to rush their first semester on campus. I was just wondering if this would put me at an advantage of being able to get a bid since I would not have to worry competing with Freshman since they are not allowed to pledge until their second semester of college and I will be rushing in the fall. Anyone who has experience with being a part of Greek life's input would be much appreciated!!! :)

You will never be at an advantage as a Junior. Just go in with a very open mind and realize that you may have limited options. Phi. Mu will be colonizing in Spring 2014 so that opens up more opportunities, though it would have helped you more if you went through colony recruitment. Be prepared and don't go in with you heart set on one group or your mind set against any. Good luck.

As far as I know, this campus isn't one where PNMs frequently get recs. However, getting recs to each group may be a way to set you apart. Good Luck!
