Carrie 2013

Is anyone going to see the "Carrie" remake? We're seeing it tonight. I thought the original "Carrie" was awful, it wasn't scary at all. Taking a chance on seeing the new one.

I haven't seen the original, but I read the book about a year ago. It was really creepy... I'm looking forward to the new one, if we ever get to see it. This weekend we are really busy. :(

My family and I have been watching the old one a lot lately, and hopefully if it's somehow still out by thanksgiving break then hopefully I'll see it with them!

The original (1976) is the BEST. The end. :)

Not to mention it's already been remade once (for TV, in 2002), and that one sucked.

To be honest, I enjoyed that version too. It was more faithful to the book until the very end, and had a big enough twist where I wanted the story to continue.

Plus, black Sue Snell for the win.

Nope. It wasn't scary, to me. I've heard the book is much better than the movie, though.

The scariest thing about that gif is the wrist corsage.

LOL. I say the scariest thing is the blood on the teeth. Ewwwww.

MUCH.

Yes, yes, and yes.

I'm with 33girl that the end of the original was scary! I saw it in the theater first, then several times later on video. I am never prepared for the end. We were watching it one time with the lights out, and the minute that hand shot out of the grave, my nephew grabbed my ankle...oh my Lord...

Anyway, will be interested to hear opinions on the new one. Is Julianne Moore playing Carrie's mother? Piper Laurie owned that role in the original!

WestcoastWonder 10-22-2013 03:45 AM

My friend wanted me to see it with her, but I saw the preview at the movie a couple months ago and I wasn't impressed at all.

Nothing beats the original. And I hope this doesn't sound bad and i'm not trying to throw shade at Sissy Spacek, but am I the only one who thinks Chloe Moretz (the playing Carrie in the remake) is a little too pretty?

The original realness was captured in the first Carrie with Sissy Spacek because she was kind of an oddball. I liked that she was weird. I even read these little trivia facts on IMDB

Quote:

The pig's blood dumped on Sissy Spacek was karo syrup and food coloring, although she was willing to have real blood dumped on her.
and

Quote:

While filming the bloody prom sequence, Sissy Spacek's trailer was parked behind the set. After being covered in fake blood, for continuity purposes, Spacek refused to wash the effect off. She elected instead to sleep in her bloody clothes for three days of filming.
And it's hard for me to imagine Carrie as an outcast if she's pretty and blends in with the others despite her powers.
