Rush and keep an open mind.

No one is going to share gossip, reputations or similar garbage talk with you here. If you're looking for that, you need to go to a different site.

You really really need to get out of your head that there is a best and a worst. All of the chapters there are solid, have been there for about forever, and are not going anywhere. When you rush, some will seem better and worse to you. And some of the sororities will like you more than others. That's the process. There is not an objective list that you can find out on the sly. Different girls like different things, so my objective best and worst could be world's apart from yours. But I can tell you based on what I've read here over the years that UT takes the cake for tent talk and judging sororities based on rumor. I would tell you not to do that, but I know you will anyway. So just try to not be too fatalistic about all of it.

Pay attention to the way you feel when you go through recruitment. The only one who needs to be honest is YOU. From experience I can tell you it doesn't matter who I think is the best or the worst it matters who YOU think are the best and the worst. Don't listen to other peoples opinions. They are their opinions and not yours. The reason we tell so many women to keep an open mind is because it makes the process easier for YOU. You will love some, hate some, be unmoved either way by some. YOUR opinions will change from day to day based on who you talk to and even by the order you go to the parties (fresher in the morning and dead tired at the end of the day). I wish you the best of luck.

Allthatblonde1, I would like a little more clarity with regard to your question so I can give you an honest answer. I have written many recs for girls from my HT going through at UT and have had a niece involved in UT Greek life recently. I can tell you, it's absolutely a school where you need recs (and probably more than 1 for each chapter wouldn't hurt). It would also help to get to know some girls in the chapters if possible before you go through recruitment.

Her question implies that she's looking for information about reputations and which sororities are "better" than the others. We don't discuss such things here.

All of the chapters are great, and she should give each of them a fair chance.

just try it

like they said, u should keep an open mind. during my rush week I ruled out trisig just because of its reputation and what other people said, but now I wouldn't have it any other way. you just need to go through recruitment. also, if u do zero in on one house, u could not get it, its usually mutual selection and a lot of ppl don't get their first choice, so an open mind helps. and finally, no matter what sorority you get in, youre going to have the same amazing experience as everyone else, I promise :)
