Kappa Sigma Founding father

Hey guys I'm Tyler and I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to be a Kappa Sigma founding father, but we are having trouble getting new recruits, because we are at a commuter college. I would really appreciate some great recruitment ideas.

Recruitment at a commuter college is more of a guerilla warfare sort of thing. Your members need to individually bring guys in. You're not going to have a lot of potentials just show up on your doorstep. Recruitment should be 365 days a year, with a lot of emphasis on the Summer--and doing things every single week during the Summer, with a couple of fun excursions planned. Even at a commuter school, if you know what you're doing, the bulk of your pledge class will be known by the time formal recruitment starts.

Lunch time is great time to recruit, commuter students often bring lunch or eat on campus between classes. If you can plan some fun, quick events to get your name out that would be good. I live near a commuter campus with two thriving fraternities. They have informational tables on campus at different times during the day at the beginning of each semester. They make labels for water bottles with their letters on them and the dates of a couple of upcoming events and hand them out to the guys who come to the table. Water is pretty cheap, but everyone likes it.

Are there sorority chapters on your campus? if there are ask them to recommend a few guys to for you to contact. Or have a social event with the sororities and ask them to bring a potential member with them.

Have your current members wear letters and present a positive image on campus. Get involved in campus activities and organizations. You earn a good reputation and meet guys already in those organizations. Being the organization that is respected on campus goes a long way! Good luck to you!

Thanks guys, that water bottle idea is good, as is the summer events. We are the only fraternity on campus but we do a lot of event with the two sororities on campus.
