wearing letters even if not in fraternity

My friend gave me one of his fraternity tee shirt that just says ΠΚΑ
. It it cool to wear it even if I am not in it? What do you guys think? I'd just support them but don't to be seen as poser

If it is block letters, this would be very inappropriate. Given that you're male, I'd lean towards inappropriate no matter WHAT type of shirt it was

QFP

Also unless it's an event shirt that's a huge no-no, and even then I'd be wary of wearing them for appearing a poser. Especially considering you posted in a different thread that you want to join a fraternity, being known around campus for being a "poser" would be a really good way to get blackballed from every chapter.

No, it wouldn't be cool to wear it.
Yes, you would be seen as a poser.

Also, your friend is kind of a douche for even giving it to you.

This.

As for your friend, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he's clueless.

Is he a Pike? I'm guessing this is just some clueless way of them trying to mark you as their territory during recruitment. Even if that's the case, I wouldn't wear it. Not even with their permission. You're not a Pike.

--and keep an open mind, if what I'm assuming happened is the case, that's kind of desperate behavior.

Yes to all of this. Stay far away from this dude, and from this fraternity, if this is the caliber of members they attract.

Life lesson:

If you ever have to ask "should I wear this" because you have doubt ... you shouldn't.

Doesn't apply only to t-shirts.

True, true, true!

When I was a pledge, my friend who was pledging Tri Delt and I switched sweatshirts and had my roommate take a picture. We were just being silly and would have never dreamed of leaving the room with someone else's letters on. Of course, I think that photo is in a chapter scrapbook but it was so long ago that anyone reading it now would think she was the DZ and I was a visiting Tri Delt!
