I think its safe to say that that would fall under an MS question so we can't tell you how much weight a chapter would put on that -
BUT she may be limited as to what majors she can do or what math classes she would start in. That might be a better reason to retake it.

I really think every chapter and campus is different. Unfortunately there is no way to know. I will however, put this bug in your ear for contemplation. With the 10% rule and even less I understand at UT, chapters at UT and TA&MU probably have to, I'm not saying they do because I don't for sure, look at everything regarding academics. AP classes, ACT, SAT included.
Everybody entering these campuses are in top 10% of their HS. So where do they go from there? What are the chances of all these students being successful at one of these very competitive schools. All GPA's are not created equal.

My daughter is not a good tester and we left it off her resume. I know there were several recommendation forms that asked for SAT/ACT scores because I had rec writers contact me about it. When they contacted us we gave them the score but I only a handful did. I'm assuming the others left it off the form. My daughter went through a competitive recruitment but not SEC level. I hope this helps.

There's a place on our form for SATs but I never include them unless the PNM just happens to have it on her resume. I never go back and ask. GPA is the main info we want.

Just Interested is correct. It is different at UT and A&M because of the top 10% rule. I would leave the scores off of her resume if you are not confident in them.

I hate it when people leave it off. I always go back and ask, and won't complete a rec without it. Grade inflation nullifies GPA data in my opinion.

But on the other hand, she might be from a school where the grades really aren't inflated, she's just a rotten tester. Some people are smart and hard workers and get great grades, standardized tests just aren't their bag and they break out in hives just at the thought of them.

She isn't a horrible testee but took the test at the beginning of her junior year with zero preperation, just to get a feel for the test. Once she realized she would be top 10 she chose not to retest. I don't think grades are inflated at our high school but I wouldn't know how to determine that either. She works hard and has taken all the honors classes and dual credit coursesnthat she could. She currently has a 99.17 average and a 3.8 in her dual credit 24 hours.

I think she may go ahead and retake it in November. Those results will make it toTAMU by the scholarship deadline

If it were one of my own kids, I would encourage them to retake the SAT if I was confident they would do better (after test prep classes or something?). I wouldn't do it for recruitment purposes though. I would encourage them to do it just to prove to themselves that they could get a higher score--just a challenge on a personal level.

I don't remember SAT/ACT scores being as important as GPR, but that might be the case now. Retaking the test wouldn't hurt anything.

Collegeboard doesn't send SAT scores to sororities. Collegeboard is a total rip off. Don't give them an extra penny just to put a higher SAT score on a recruitment resume. For all anybody knows, she didn't even take the SAT. Leave it blank.

Recruitment aside - I would encourage my child to retake because universities do look at SAT or ACT scores when deciding on awarding scholarships or use them when deciding to let you in to the Honors program. You could be statistically eliminating yourself from scholarships and some majors, and many academic awards that only go to a student in honors. Some schools are also using ACT scores as part of their decision as to what math classes students are allowed to start in. Depending on what major you choose, adding an additional math class or two that you have to take as prerequisites could add another year onto your degree plan. If you are interested in science, business or engineering, I would encourage you to retake it.
