Chapter EBoard Elections?

Hi everyone!
I just received my bid to become a founding sister of the new Iota Mu chapter of Chi Omega! I was wondering, as they discussed it briefly and I'm afraid to bombard the national sisters with questions, how elections for eboard works? I'm a senior at my college, though I'll be here for my MBA, and just want to understand the whole process.

I think the ladies in Chi Omega may be able to help you with this question but, I just wanted to say congratulations with your bid! It must be really exciting to be a founding member!

Chi Omega is a quality organization which knows how to colonize. I would trust that you'll get all of the information you're going to need from your advisers/consultants. Further, I would imagine the process of selecting executive officers is different for a newly established colony than it would be for an established group.

They'll get to this in the process. Each step of a colonization is done methodically. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Before the time comes for elections, you'll need to find out if ChiO allows members to remain active after graduation while pursuing graduate degrees (also, have you been accepted to the MBA program at QU?) Not all sororities do or do in all situations. If they do allow you to remain active, and you have been accepted already to grad school, you'll get all the information you need about running for a position from the women that are assisting the colony. That's what they are there for anyway. I'd bet being older and wiser would already put you at an advantage when election time comes around.

Thanks for the encouragement and support guys! I think at the ceremony and such they'll start to explain everything, but I love getting information haha. I'm so excited!

AOII Angel - I did! I met with the MBA director last week and I'm all set!

When my chapter of DG colonized, elections were held in the 3rd or 4th week I think. It gave us time to learn about the positions and interact with our sisters a bit. Some offices had "class restrictions" -- like the President had to be a sophomore or junior...makes sense, she's need to be around to transition to the next president, etc.

Normally in DG, officers are slated, with elections if needed...for the colony, every position was elected.

Chi Omega might be totally different though - they are very good at "expanding" and I'm sure they have a very successful system in place. ;) Good luck!
