Sigma Tau Beta

Hello! Does anyone know anything about Sigma Tau Beta?

I found a picture of their badge: http://fratpin.com/sigmataubeta.html

It's not in any of the online Baird's or in my 1980s edition of Baird's...anyone have a 1940s edition they could take a look it...

I would guess it was/is a local and might not even be in the Baird's.

Thanks!

Oh and also, I thought it might be a fraternity but the name engraved on the badge of the badge in the link above is a lady's name. So maybe it was/is a sorority!

I do know that this pin shown is NOT from the North Carolina State College. That group was a fraternity and since its a females name, that rules that group out, and also the badge shown in the yearbooks is different.

My hunch is that this pin is most likely from an old high school group that had that name.

Just an FYI, this is the badge of the group from NC State College:

Yeah...I thought about that college and than saw it was a fraternity.

I guess I'll keep looking around and see what I can find...

On e-yearbook there was a sigma tau beta high school sorority at a Texas school. It was listed in three yearbooks in the 1950s-60s...but no pin was shown....

If I ever come across anything I'll post...

There was a Sigma Tau Beta sorority active in Toledo, OH from approx. 1926 - 1950's. I am finding that this must have been a high school sorority, as events listed in the newspaper include a mothers' tea and an alum get-together for former members from "four years back." Another indication is that a woman is mentioned as being a graduate of Defiance High School, a member of Sigma Tau Beta, and a graduate of Ohio State and a Phi Mu.

This leads me to conclude Sigma Tau Beta was a high school sorority. Maybe later it morphed into a community sorority, but I have yet to find evidence of that.

Hope this helps!
