Grammy Nominations
This morning the Grammy nominations were announced.
India.Arie received 7 nominations in various categories. Brian McKnight and Outkast received 5 nominations each. Alicia Keyes received a few nominations as well. The Show will air February 27 from L.A. |
"We" Done Did Good...
Alicia Keyes picked up 6 nominations, including "Best New Artist" (but did not get a nod for album of the year)...
U2 (For those diverse folx on GC--like myself--that listen to Rock and Alternative music also in addition to Jazz, Rap, Hip Hop, and R&B)...got 8 nominations (deservedly so), including best Rock song for BOTH "Elevation" and "Walk On"...They also got the nod for the coveted album of the year... India Arie got like 6 (I believe?? Correct me if I'm wrong) nominations, including one for album of the year! I'm so proud of her! Her album IS the BOMB and I'm glad she's getting recognition for it... |
I was SO PSYCHED when I heard about India.Arie!!!
In a time when o much of black music seems to be saying "I have a blue BMW and I can induce your girlfriend to have oral sex, which of course makes her a worthless bitch, just like I hope all the young girls listening to this music grow up to be too" it is so nice to have someone telling a story and telling it so beautifully. |

what's the difference?
Could someone please explain to me what is the difference between 'Album of the Year' vs 'Record of the Year'?
Ironic, isn't it that these are still named albums or records when they are purchased now as cd's... If you were to go to a 'music' store (no longer the record store) and asked for so-n-so's 'Album' they'd look at you as if you asked for a 45 or an 8-track. Funny how times have changed... |

ALBUM = Entire Musical Recording |
How and why in the heck did Afroman get a nomination for "Because I Got High? Granted, I like the song, but it's not worthy of a Grammy.
|
A reminder!
|
I just heard that Patti LaBelle will be joining Mya, Pink, Christina, and Lil Kim on " Lady Marmalade". Lord, Patti is gonna put them girls to shame!
|
can't wait!
I hope India Arie and Alica get at least 3 grammy's. And why hasn't NSYNC gotten a grammy yet? They need one.
QTE |
All I know is
If Alica Keys sing "Fallen" at the Grammys,
(singing Contagious) "I'm about to catch a casseee" I am so tired of her singing that damn song! QTE ;) |
