Upland Bird Season, etc.

Anybody gearing up for upland bird season. Here in Virginia Dove season opens at the begining of September quickly followed by quail season.
GF and I will be joining in managed and quota hunts. I loaned GF my double barrel 20 gauge which she has been using for practice. I figure I'll use my 20 gauge pump for these smallbirds.
Then comes Fall turkey season and waterfowl season. It will be good to be back in cammies and blaze orange again and my old 12 gauge needs some exercising.
Anyone else answering the call of the wild?

Nobody gearing up for the season? Don't tell me that all of GC has given up hunting and joined the anti-gun movement. The shades of Dan'l Boone and Davy Crockett must be spinning in their graves! What would John Wayne say?

What can I say? I've never enjoyed hunting. Fishing either. (Well really, that's an understatement—fishing bores me beyond tears.)

And I'm descended from Dan'l Boone.

And now that you mention it, I never really liked many John Wayne movies, either. :D

The only thing I have to contribute to this discussion is that my brother-in-law and nephew enjoy hunting duck, pheasant, etc. My nephew has a Vizsla puppy that he is training for the hunt. However, judging from the dog's behavior at the family cottage this past weekend, he appears to have skipped the basics, such as house training and not-jumping-on-and-running-along-the-picnic-table training.

Hope you enjoy duck and pheasant, I got hooked on them in England. Regarding the behaviour of the dog, chuckle, grin, and laugh. I don't hunt with dogs but my old St Bernard was always a source of disasters and wild laughter whenever she could jump on the table be it picnic or formal dining table!

Don't like John Wayne movies, say it ain't so Joe! Where is Senator McCarthy when we need him!

Sorry I have to stop. I am laughing too hard to keep this up. I think I am in desperate need of a large black coffee to light up one or two of my brain cells.

Busted.

He always seemed a little . . . stiff, or something . . . to me, and something about his voice just works my nerves over. I like him okay in a few of his later movies—True Grit, Rooster Cogburn or The Shootist. Otherwise, nah.
