HELP: MY RECRUITMENT DOESN'T START TILL JAN

Hey guys!

At my school, recruitment doesn't begin until the spring semester! What should I do in the mean time to get ready for it/what do sorority members look for in freshman? Also, is it true that they look for potential members at parties and other social stuff before rush? Thanks so much for answering :)!

Do a search. Your school does what we call "deferred recruitment," and that term should turn up plenty of stuff.

Your questions are valid, but pretty school specific. As you do your search here (google search including Greekchat is more productive than the internal GC search engine), also look for your school in particular. If you don't find your school, look for a school of similar size and culture in your part of the world. It may not be exact but should give you some ideas about what to do and how to behave. But in short - ALWAYS be nice, be extra aware of your appearance, be graceful, limit alcohol and sexual behavior and get involved in clubs, activities, intramurals, etc. And do all of this while keeping pristine grades :) That's a lot, but your first semester freshman year is a whirlwind no matter what. Use your calendar and if you aren't already a good time manager, learn how to quickly.

My daughter went through winter recruitment this year and wrote her recruitment story. Again, it's school-specific, so some things may not apply to your situation. She got very good advice through GC from an alum from her school (and now chapter) that was very helpful. People from your school would probably be very helpful, if you have any personal connections you can consult.
