Fall Rush
 

So, it's getting closer to that time......
What do your chapters have planned for rushing season this fall?

My chapter doesnt really have a lot planned. We recruit I guess all year long and just invite prospective members to everything we are doing and to our meetings. Since we have 27 members in the chapter (including the three new pledges we took in June) we don't have need for a big rushing party or event.

In my former chapter, we had a cookout at my house and invited prospective members over. We had like three or four prospective members come, but none ended up joining. We extended bids to three of the four.

Three new pledges! That's really nice!

Our chapter is 9 active, 1 honorary member at the moment, and for a relatively new chapter with all of the associated issues that we've dealt with: It's a good start.

We're still trying to formalize what we're planning to do for rush. I guess we'd better hop to it!

I'm sorry I dont have a lot of ideas, but I think International has an entire book you can get with successful party themes (who doesnt like to come out to a great party right?) and their rushing department may have ideas as well.

I am considering purchasing the party theme book just for my own personal purposes of my hubby and I having fun theme parties for our friends lol!

I'm placing an order for the Party theme book and Songbook next week. I didn't know about the party theme book.
I know that we've got a few ideas for rush parties, but more are always welcome....so I think that the book will be of great help.

Well, things worked out better than we expected!

We welcomed four new pledges this fall and they are settling in just fine.

For our fall rush, we had a dinner social, and another small party where we were entertained by a very talented set of pianists. :-)

When our VP turned 21, her parents hosted a very nice party and almost all of our chapter (minus 2) was able to make it in addition to many other friends and members of her family. One of our sisters from another chapter in the council came as well. We got a photo of us all (+ our envoy) and I'm still in awe at what the 'no' from Greek Life to me ended up turning into almost a year later through Beta Sigma Phi!


In addition: A few months ago, I was contacted by International and asked to write a piece about how our chapter came together. I wrote about a page and sent it in. My piece was published in the latest issue of "The Torch" our sorority magazine, and I'm still having trouble believing it at the moment. :-)
