Daughter Rushing at Mizzou...

Hi everyone,
My daughter will be rushing at Mizzou this Fall. No Alpha Xi Delta house there:(, but I hear that there are lots of great options. I hear that recs are a necessity. We are pretty much out of the Missouri loop- from Nor Cal...if this going to be tougher on her being from Cali? Thanks!

You absolutely need recs. Have you gotten any lined up?

AZDBeachgirl 07-28-2013 07:58 PM

Thx. She has nine of the fifteen lined up. Still searching... It was so different at SDSU- maaaannny years ago...:)

AZDBeachgirl,

I went to SDSU many many years ago as well. I was there from 1986 to 1989.
I love reading Greekchat and the information given is very useful. Hopefully you will get the information you are seeking.

Good luck to your daughter.

What all organizations do you still need recs for?

AZDBeachgirl 07-28-2013 08:39 PM

We are still working on the following:

Alpha Phi
Chi Omega
Gamma Phi Beta
Kappa Delta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Sigma Sigma Sigma
There are so many houses at Mizzou, it's hard to get them all covered.

Not sure where in California you're at, but if you go to Alpha Phi's official webpage, there is a listing of all the alumnae chapters in the state. If they have a webpage or Facebook page, there will be a link. You might be able to find someone nearby.
Good luck to your daughter!

There's also a thriving Alumnae Panhellenic in SD that may be able to help you get recs for SOME of the ones you're missing. Their rec page is here: http://www.sdaph.org/contacts/index.html

If SD's APH doesn't have reps for all of them, there is actually a SC Council of Alumnae Panhellenics (a group representing ALL of the APHs in So Cal.) They help with recs, too. Their rec info page is here: http://www.sccap.info/Recruitment_Information.html

(They represent a number of APHs, so they probably have access to alumnae from EVERY group you need.)

Note: Anytime you're working with an APH to help get recs, your daughter will need to provide them with some info about her. Those sites let you know the info they'll need and when they need it.

Sidenote: I am a firm believer in SD being the greatest place on the planet. I'm originally from there (moved to OH in middle school) and my dad still lives there (15 minutes from PB.)

Good luck!

Thank you Missouri Ivy!

Thanks for the help KSUViolet06. Love SD, especially La Jolla. My fav place is the beach in LJ shores...

We live in Northern California in the Sierra Foothills about an hour from Tahoe. I imagine there might be a SC Council of Alumnae Panhellenics that we can contact?

AZTheta 07-28-2013 09:13 PM

Do the best that you can in terms of recs - you still have time, do not panic, and tell your daughter to enjoy herself. I bet it'll all go great.

Miss CA; miss Santa Barbara, and miss the Pacific Ocean. San Diego is lovely, we Zonies love it there, in the summer most especially.

ETA, just saw your location, I know where you're located (general vicinity) and it's definitely not as populated as SoCal.

AZDBeachgirl 07-28-2013 09:40 PM

Actually, I meant there might be a NC Council of Alumnae Panhellenic that I could contact...

WCsweet<3 07-28-2013 10:38 PM

For Northern:
Sacramento
Tulare County
South Bay
Diablo Valley

There is one in San Mateo and Fresno but I couldn't find a webpage. Some of these are facebook pages, but I couldn't find anything better. I'd send a message asking for contact.
