Rho Chi's, Pi Chi's, Ambassadors Reading Notebooks
I picked up a cute notebook for my dd to take notes during sorority recruitment. We talked about using a rating system and having a section for each group. When I went to an Advisers meeting a week ago the women cautioned me on not writing down notes in a notebook but using dd's phone. It became a big discussion in another group I am in and my thoughts are:
1. It is a total breach of trust for any one to be looking at notes that are written specifically for you. 2. Some recruitments don't allow you to have a phone. My daughter and I have thought of devising a code that she could use. One word that would mean one thing to her but if someone else is looking at it the text wouldn't have any meaning to them. Any thoughts on this? |
If you are talking about notes that she makes after a party - the yes, it would be very rude for a pi chi or another pnm to look at those.
If you mean notes that you or the two made ahead of time about chapters, it would still be a breach of privacy for someone else to look at, but that's as bad as tent talk and you would be better off to just not do to it. |
As an ex rho gam, I can't imagine reading a notebook. Its just silly and honestly me (or any of the rho gammas I worked with) never even thought about it. The girls dropped their purses in a big pile and we never touched them other than to move them out of the way.
I also would find using a phone odd. Using a code could be great when writing a recruitment story though. Hint hint nudge nudge. |

Having been a Rho Chi twice, I cannot imagine violating a PNM's privacy like that!! I just can't believe that any RC would read a private notebook. I just wouldn't worry about it.
