A sorority member I don't know requested to follow me on Twitter... what should I do?
My Twitter is protected, meaning the only people who can see my Tweets are those I approve. There's nothing bad on my Twitter.. I follow the "Grandma rule" meaning if I wouldn't want my Grandma to read it, I don't put it on the internet! Lol. But recently someone I don't know requested to follow it. I looked through their page and figured out they're a member of a sorority at my school! I have never heard of this person before, and I have no idea how they found me.
I know very few people in Greek life at my school, so it may be wise to "get my name out there." But I don't want to break any no contact rules! What should I do? |
I would just ignore it. If you should see her and she asks, just say something like I always forget to do those!
|
Alright, I'll do that. Do you think this was some kind of test?
|
I would like to think it was not so much a test as much as a chapter member trying to get a leg up on scoping out a potential new member. But I agree that I would wait to approve it until recruitment is over.
|
I'd probably stay off Twitter until after recruitment.

She shouldn't have asked. I would also not accept her follow request. But as opposed to being completely hidden on Facebook and Twitter, I would have some publicly available information on both of them. You can 100% control the person you want them to see but still give them a way to gather intel on you. You can show them the picture perfect you, fun, leader, cute. Leave out the pictures of boys, CERTAINLY alcohol or anything else that is illegal unethical or unkind, and probably any girls who could have any negative impact on you. Or stated another way, probably keep the pictures of just you or you with your family and your absolute BFF, but no girls you sort of know, don't know or don't like.
