Giving High School GPA for a Transfer PNM
 

Hi everyone!

The answers to my last post were very helpful, so I'd figured I would ask another question! I think this is a question better suited for my university's Greek Life Office, but seeing as they are now closed, I figured I would ask you guys incase anyone was familiar with this.

I was just signing up for fall formal recruitment at the university I am transferring to and one of the mandatory questions is providing a high school GPA. I have no idea what my GPA is but I know it is fairly low because I struggled my way through the prep school curriculum. If I find out my GPA and report it, will they overlook it and focus on my college GPA? If they do look at my high school GPA, do sororities take into account the type of high school? I do not mean this to come off as rude or entitled, but that is, assuming that most prep schools are more demanding than public schools.

I did very well in my first year of college and was more involved than I was in high school. After taking a summer class I think I'll do just as well, if not better, at my new university. So, I guess I'm hoping my college will account for more in this factor of recruitment!

When I went through recruitment as a Transfer PNM last Fall, I listed my HS GPA but had to estimate it (it was above 3.0, I remember that much....so I put down 3.0) but also had to list my College cumulative GPA. The collegiate GPA was what counted, according to my school's Greek Life office.

Check with your school's Greek Life office.

I think the old school of thought was that you would never achieve a higher GPA in college than you earned in high school. Now some schools have 29 valedictorians.

It depends on the diversity of the college but I'm sure there are some of your potential sisters who have never heard of HADES, New Trier, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, or any of the other secondary schools that may be more rigorous than college.

In all fairness they should only consider your college transcript. Contact your school's Greek life office.

Once you have entered college, only your college GPA counts.

Many PHs checked the PNMs actual GPA and pass that along to the chapters. ask if yours does that and they will get your college GPA.

Thanks for the help! I called this morning and unfortunately because it is the summer, a woman who knows nothing answered the phone. She said my best bet was to try back when the fall semester is in session. UGH why even pay someone for an answering service?!!! :confused:
