Out of State at Clemson?!
Hey ya'll, I'm thinking about going to Clemson and definitely want to go through sorority recruitment! I'm from out of state though (NC!), and while Clemson isn't a big SEC school, I'm just wondering how this will affect me. I'm definitely planning on getting recs, by the way.

Can't say for sure that it will or will not effect you, but out of state students do get bids at Clemson. Definitely get recs, one or two to each chapter. Keep an open mind throughout recruitment.

Go Tigers! I'm a rising sophomore at Clemson also going through recruitment this fall, and my friends in sororities haven't made any sort of deal about where I'm from. I'm a Northerner too from a state which is far more uncommon than NC. You might hear that some chapters are more Southern than others, but every single one takes girls from all over the country, not just South Carolina. Lots of Clemson students are from NC (I believe it's the #2 state in enrollees after SC but don't quote me on that), so you should be fine! PM me if you have any more questions:)

The out of state thing seems to have been wildly overblown. In schools where we studied the data, the out of state girls did at least as well as the in state girls. Now understand, looking at the data talks to PLACEMENT not perceived quality of placement. The Awesome Betas might choose mostly girls from a handful of hometowns, VGGs (Very Good Gammas) might not be so restrictive and the SNDs (Still Nice Deltas) might think it's extra cool to have a geographically diverse membership. So, in short, be open to every chapter and you will very likely find a home.
