Does anyone have any specific numbers as to how many upperclassmen registered for recruitment last year? I'm going in as a junior and it's pretty scary. The only thing I can really use to help me calm down is statistical information. All I know are the numbers that received bids, so any information on how many signed up at the beginning, were dropped during rounds, etc. would help me understand how many have successful rushes.

As a side note, if you know any numbers that differentiate juniors and sophomores, that'd help, too

Man, you sound like me... OCD about the numbers. Let it go. You will do well or not do well based on your own situation. 300 seniors might have gotten pledged last year and that has absolutely zero to do with your odds. It is going to be harder for a junior, but there IS a UC quota, so it's not impossible. If you have the grades, the extra-curriculars, the contacts, the recs and the personality, you'll likely find a home somewhere. The same old story applies- be nice to every girl in every chapter, be happy with your invitations after every round, and be enthusiastic about what you can do with and for whatever chapter appreciates your greatness.

Out of just under 2000 rushing, 121 were sophomores and 12 were juniors. No seniors.

Of the 121 sophomores, 85 pledged. Out of the 12 juniors, 9 pledged. So your odds as a junior are actually better than as a sophomore.
This does not include women who pledged during COB, and some of those are always upperclassmen.

If you have grades and activities, the next thing is to be open to any group. They are all great groups, with outstanding women and many different types of women. You should be able to find your niche and close buddies in any group.

And in terms of my grades and resume, I actually had one of the women writing me a rec call me just to tell me how impressed she was that I was so involved and still made well above what most sororities want (won't be too specific just in case ;) ) I honestly had nightmares last night thinking about the process, but this makes me feel so much better!

I actually still have nightmares about the process and I rushed back in the seventies!

Mine didn't! And they're all about things that never happened, like I don't know what time the pref parties are so I miss them or I wear jean to prefs.

I'd add that your invite list everyday is going to look different than Franny Freshman, just by nature of some chapters cutting juniors off the bat. Ex: you may not have the same shot at say, Phi Beta Popular as a freshman does. Does that mean you shouldn't go through? No. But you have to be real re: the fact that there are some chapters out there with little to no interest in you based on your class standing.

People ask all the time if they should bother rushing as juniors at places like Bama, UF, etc. My response is generally that if you can handle not being anywhere in the stratosphere of what Phi Beta Popular & Everybody Loves Epsilon want, then of course. You can probably get a bid to a GREAT chapter. Is it going to be to the house that you hear every other PNM in recruitment talking about how they just LOVE it? Probably not. You have to decide for yourself whether you want to be Greek, or do you only want to be in *insert certain groups here*

Note: Are there exceptions to this? Probably. If Julie Junior super well connected to Phi Beta Popular, she might be the one junior that PBP takes.
