Hi I'm a newbie-Pledging Against Religion

Hello There All!

I would love to interact with each and everyone of you, and have a question?

Do you feel your religion prohibits you from pledging and/or are you a sinner because you have pledged? If so, why?

Heathen that I am, I'm wondering why/how your religion is against you pledging a sorority. What exactly about sorority membership makes you think it's sinful?

And unless you are planning on pledging some sorority I don't know of whose official or unofficial religion is satanism, you're good to go. Any form of Christianity or Judaism is going to be easy peasy to find a match for you if you want to stay within your faith. And if you meant you wanted to pledge a sorority whose core principles are different than yours, I think you need to do some more reading. In the NPC, there are a few Jewish sororities, a few nondenominational ones, and all the rest have varying degrees of Christian structures. And if you open up your search to sororities with a much more direct religious focus, there are lots of those out there too, like ones that require you to be a particular flavor of Christian and attend church every week.

There are churches/religious groups that do not approve of taking oaths or vows. There are churches/religious groups that do not approve of the secrecy involved in the oaths or vows of most GLO. There are churches/religious groups that do not approve of the philosophies that (as they understand them) underlie Freemasonry, and that as a result have problems with GLOs to the extent that there is any a sonic influence in them. And there are churches/religious groups that have a problem with the Greek mythology that pays a ritualistic role in many GLOs, seeing it as idolatry or syncretism rather than metaphor or symbolism.

Yes, there are Christian (or Jewish) influences in many GLOs, and there are specifically-Christian GLOs. There are still some religious groups that might have problems with fraternity or sorority membership.

In particular I have heard that the Mormon Church has prohibitions against Secret Societies that require oaths.
