Benefits of Being Greek Affiliated?
Hi everyone! I'm going through formal rush in about a month and I was wondering what some of the benefits of being Greek affiliated are. I know that you can get a discount on car insurance and it's a great resume builder, but I'm curious about some of the other things I may not know of and haven't been able to find anything through research. I've also heard that when you travel you can contact the local chapter and possibly have a place to stay and sisters/brothers to show you around. Are there certain stores or restaurants that give discounts to Greeks? Park ticket or hotel discounts? What about non monetary benefits?

Knowing you share a bond of sisterhood with women across the nation and even abroad. I have met sisters in the workplace, on vacation, even in the hospital when I was having my youngest daughter. It is very special to know that you are a part of an organization with such a rich history.

Free hotel rooms, lodging, and tour guides? Cheap insurance and food? Sign me up! |
Yes, Geico informed me that if I pledge with a sorority that I would receive further discounts off of my car insurance. And the thing about lodging is coming straight from an active Sig Delt and a DG alumnae.

But if you were simply to ask what the benefits of being a member of a fraternity or sorority are, I don't think discounts on car insurance, hotels or restaurants would occur to anyone here. If that's what you're looking for, try AAA -- it requires a lot less personal commitment. |

But next time someone suggests joining the Junior League because the inquirer missed the boat on collegiate NPC membership, I am going to recommend joining AAA. As a person who used to work for them, I can attest to the vast amount of member benefits they provide. The pillow fights are not nearly as fun however. And do you know they almost never have a candle passing?

If you're a Delta Nu, you have access to the 24 hour Delta Nu 24-hour housing hotline. That's pretty awesome, especially if you live in a city like NY or San Francisco where it's hard to find a nice apartment on short notice.
