Rush again?
Last year I participated in rush in the fall. However I was very back and forth on whether or not I really wanted to do it or not, so I ended up signing up late. I'm not sure if this impacted me or not, but I didn't have a ton of information in the system. Also I was not prepared at ALL for the weeks events. At first I got called back to a lot of sororities. There was only one that I was for sure not interested in. When it got to the preference round, the one I really didn't want was the only one that called me back. I was devastated and ended up dropping out. At first I felt bad about not giving them a try but after the year was over I was sure I made the right decision.
Now it's time for my sophomore year and I know I'm a lot more outgoing than I was back then (and I would make sure to not sign up late) but I can't decide if it's a good idea to try again or not. Will it be awkward to see the girls I saw during rush last year? Will a sorority that didn't call me back last year be willing to change their mind? |

Try again. At the worst, you'll be in the same place as you are now, right?
|
Ask yourself, "What will I do differently this time?" If you desire a different outcome, you must do something differently. What have you changed/improved upon since your last recruitment?
Sign up because if you don't go through, you can't get a bid. :-) |
Try because as the other posters said, what's the worst that can happen?
It most likely won't be awkward. I mean sure if the question "why are you going through now" comes up and you answer "I did, I just got cut other than those lame girls" then sure it will be awkward. But it doesn't have to be. They may change their mind. They may like you more. They may do a lot of things, but we can't say for sure as we aren't them. Keep in mind that this year's recruitment may be the same as last year. Would you be upset if the same thing happened? Would you be okay with accepting a bid to any group? |
Depending on the school, the number of chapters and the number of rushees, and if you were unprepared (and probably unmemorable), you might have been cut just because if they can't remember you there's nobody to fight for you. If that's the case, it really won't be an issue to re-rush. Make sure your ducks are in a row, be up to snuff with your conversation skills, and be memorable in a good way, and presuming your grades and extra-curriculars are good, you could definitely have a different outcome this time.

Read the rush preparation stickies, do your homework, go in with an open mind, and be yourself. You'll never know unless you try!

Thanks for the encouragement! Everything went great and I am now a proud Delta Zeta :) I'm so happy I decided to try again!

Congratulations to you and Delta Zeta!

Congratulations! Perhaps, without getting into personal detail, you can share what was different for you the second time around. |
