Be true to who you are! There are 10 sororities participating in formal recruitment this fall, and two other sororities that will be recruiting exclusively through informal recruitment. As tempting as it is, don't put on a front or try to mold yourself into what you think a house is looking for. Don't try to be someone/something you're not, because you should want to be in a sorority that wants you for your "true self."

If you do not mind my asking I am just wondering why two sororities will not be in formal recruitment?

AGD is recolonizing after formal recruitment this fall.

It is my understanding that ADX is only allowed to recruit informally, as their requirements for membership are, by their nature, discriminatory—they only offer bids to (fairly devout, I believe) Christians.

Adding to that, if they're like another ADX chapter I'm aware of, they are probably nowhere near the size of the other chapters. In day to day life that's no big deal (part of the nature of having a specialized membership) but in formal rush it's almost impossible to function without a membership that is at least in the ballpark of the others.

Having it out there so girls know there's an alternative is probably a good strategy. There will be very religious girls who go through formal and just don't feel a click, but knowing there's an alternative out there will give them somewhere to turn next.

Will Sigma Delta Tau have a house next year?

kaeb 05-31-2013 05:19 PM

Yes, ADX is smaller than most other chapters at USC. Total is now 175.

The RCs are supposed to be well-versed in the alternatives to formal recruitment, though I've found that some are better aware of those options than others.

Sigma Delta Tau will not have an official house next year, but they will have an unofficial property again where many sisters will be living together, as was the case this year. The property for next year is on 28th Street, but on the other side of Hoover (between Hoover & Orchard).

Sig Delt will be participating in formal recruitment out of AGO's house, which is just south of the Row.

Do PNMs need multiple recs for each chapter or will one be sufficient?
