Sig Ep at VT just lost their house and their charter.

Yikes. I was alerted to this article by someone who used to work at VT and helped take donations for the house.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is how you lose your charter:

I have to say that I was momentarily worried that there was an issue with the Sigma Chi chapter at Roanoke College (I initially only saw "Roanoke" in the link and saw you are a Sigma Chi). My husband's Grandfather (initiated in the early 1920's) and father (initiated in the early 1950's) were Sigma Chi's at Roanoke College. Still sad about the SigEp chapter at VT, but I am happy to know the Tau chapter of Sigma Chi is ok.

I just don't understand why anyone ever sells drugs out of their chapter house. You always get caught. Always. And it generally ends in a revoked charter.

On top of the fact that it's illegal.

They think the early Breaking Bad episodes are a good business model?

For every Breaking Bad, there's a Weeds...

Seriously though, drug problems in chapters are a cancer. Advisers cannot turn a blind and permissive eye to it. If one member does it and that's okay, virtually your entire house will get exposed and it's only a matter of time before that 'ol entrepreneurial spirit kicks in with someone.

I agree with you, but I have to add that as a former undergraduate chapter advisor this is not always possible. You (as the advisor) are not with each and every chapter member all the time. The best you can do is 1) hope that they come from a home environment that instilled good moral character, and 2) take the rules and guidelines of the org seriously, and practice them at all times.
