Auburn Rush...

Hey Everyone!!! I am transferring to Auburn from University of Alabama this month as a freshman. I went through Rush at Bama and ended up dropping out because I knew I wasn't happy there and would more than likely leave. Will that hurt me when I go through Fall rush at Aubun? Also does anyone have any advice on going through rush as a sophomore and/or how to obtain recs for sororities if I don't know any alumnae from them (XO & AOPI)? I would go through Spring rush but I heard that everyone over there is full. Thank Ya'll So Much! XOXOX

Hi--

To be honest, it is much easier to get a bid as a freshman at Auburn, especially from certain sororities. What you need to do is get to know as many sorority women as you can and get very active on campus!

And please please--don't set your sights on just a couple of groups! At a school like Auburn, that's asking for heartbreak.

Auburn has a great Greek system. I visited the Delta Zeta chapter room this summer and it was beautiful! All of the sorority girls I've met from Auburn have been wonderful. :) I agree with what my friend carnation said... Don't set your sights on just a couple of groups. Give them all an equal chance. Auburn is very competitive, so it is in your best interests to keep an open mind about all of the sororities.

Contact the Alumnae Panhellenic group nearest you and ask for help regarding recs.

Ask your parents' friends, teachers, friends of parents if they are members or know of members who can help.

Keep reading the threads about recruitment advice. Pay attention to the dates, though. GreekChat's been around over 10 years and while older threads are a good resource, you might want to pay attention to the newer ones.

Be discreet. Watch what you say here and in real life.

I just love looking at all the gorgeous websites of the individual chapters... you should give them a look!

Holy 9 year bump batman!! Hopefully the op has gone thru recruitment, received a bid, and graduated by now.

Make sure your recs "come through" unlike what you say happened with your unsuccessful University of Texas recruitment.
