Recruitment with New Chapter
 

There is a new sorority colonizing at my university in the fall. I am thinking about going through recruitment as a senior. Do you think the new sorority will increase my chances of getting a bid?

Most likely they will not be participating in the full recruitment. What normally happens is that the sorority reps who are there to do the colonization have an open house the first day of recruitment only. Then, they have their own recruitment after formal recruitment is done. You can go thru regular formal recruitment and, if you don't receive a bid or decide non of those groups are a fit for you, you can go thru the colonization process. If you go thru formal recruitment and get a bid, you have to accept it and cannot go thru the colonozation process. So you can't pick and choose one over the other after the fact.

As for your chances, we really can't say as we don't do the selection. But most colonies like to have some women in all classes so that they more truly mirror the chapter make up already on campus. But of course, you'd also have to meet their membership requirements as well - GPA, activities, etc.
