Still going strong after all these years
Hello ladies,
I just wanted to stop in and say that I was hanging out with one of my aunts that I haven't seen in about 11 years. Well my mom and I went to Delaware to visit another aunt and the aunt I haven't seen in 11 years was visiting from NC. Well I knew she was a member of Sigma Gamma Rho, but I had no idea how long she had been a member. Well come to find out she has been a member since 1952, and she is still financial and active. I asked my aunt who is the Rho what made her choose Sigma. My other aunt is a member of another bglo. My aunt is the only Sigma Gamma Rho that I know. We didn't have any on our yard when I was in school. Ladies all I can say is that her eyes still had that twinkle when she spoke of Sigma, and all that she has done, and all that Sigma has done for her.:) She stated the only year that she was not financial and active was 2 years ago when my uncle her husband died, and there was just to much going on, but ladies she is back and doing her thing. She only has a son, but I know for a fact that if she had a daughter then she would have been exposed to Sigma straight out the womb. ;) She was playfully teasing my aunt (her sister) that she didn't choose correctly. She was also playfully ribbing me because I have interest in another org as well, but you know it was all good. My aunt talked about Sigma Gamma Rho all afternoon, I can definitely see what you ladies are talking about in your forum from listening to her. So keep up all the good things that you are doing around the world.:p |
Thank you!!!! Give your aunt a big hugg for me!!! :)

Thanks for sharing about your RHOyal and Bluetiful aunt!
Okay, I remember my first Boule' (I was a neophyte about two months old) and I met all of these SoRHOrs from the Southwest Region who had 25-50+ years in Sigma and they still were as enthusiastic as me. Not to mention all of that gorgeous royal blue and gold they were wearing!
Our grad advisor (and the mayor's wife at the time) at Grambling has over 40 years and she had never missed a Boule, Regional or Area Meeting (she missed regionals this year because she was ill)! And she handled business, y'all! Those are the kind of ladies I want to be like when I grow up!! TRSimon |
