University of North Florida Rush Questions!

Hi all my name is Alex and I'll be attending the University of North Florida (Jacksonville) in Fall 2013! I defiantly plan on rushing in the fall which I know takes place September 5th-8th, but I have a few questions!

1. Is it mandatory to have recommendations for each sorority? Do most girls usually have recommendations or is it a 50/50 percentage? (Zeta Tau Alpha, Kappa Delta, Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, & Kappa Alpha Theta)

2. For the recommendations can it just be a printed recommendation letter from a past or present member of the sorority, or does it have to be a specific form UNF will give us?

3. Recruitment usually takes place during the night on Thursday & Friday so most don't miss class, correct?

4. Lastly is there anything I should be preparing about 4 months in besides recommendations?

Thanks you ladies any response will be welcomed and appreciated!:D

Yes, recommendations are needed - not sure what you mean by mandatory. You'll be allowed to go thru recruitment no matter whether you have them or not - Panhellenic won't know anyway. The groups require them or not - not the school.

Each NPC group has their own form and the recommendation writers for you will know that.

True...or has been in the past. Check with UNF for this fall's schedule.

Not if you haven't already done it - grades, activities, etc.

@Titchou for the "mandatory" I was just wondering if UNF is competitive as UF, FSU, or Alabama in a sense that most people have recommendations for each sorority! Thanks for your help (:

No, not that competitive but recs will help you.

Titchou's information is spot on. Good luck to you!

Hey there! I'm in a sorority at UNF.
1. Recs arent necessary at UNF, but, like stated before they DEFINITELY help. But not having recs wont ruin any chances of getting into a sorority (I had one, but I ended up accepting a bid from a different sorority!)
2. Recruitment here is not anywhere near as competitive as the big schools like UF, Alabama, FSU, etc. etc. We definitely have a "We want as many people as possible to have the experience" kind of attitude. (Not saying that these other schools don't)
3. Recruitment at UNF will take place from Thursday, September 5, 2013, to Sunday, September 8, 2013.
4. If you wanna go above and beyond and get recs: go for it! coming from someone who has been on the active's side of recruitment, we take them into account, but dont feel stressed or pressured or feel like you "absolutely have to get one". but other than that and actually signing up for recruitment, theres nothing specific you really have to focus on.
Hope this helps, and feel free to message me if you have any other questions!

Of course, you can only speak from the perspective of how your group handles recs. ;) Some groups take recs a lot more seriously than others.
