Real World-Chicago
Premieres January 15th on MTV
|
I've already seen the site. There are two people of color on there, Theo (male) and Anneesa (sp?) (female).
I hope that Theo will turn out more like Kevin from New York or Mohammed from San Francisco, rather than the L.A./N.O. Davids, Boston's Syrus or Seattle's Stephen. Then again, he may not get a lot of TV time, LOL. The "bad black guy" stereotype in "reality TV" is unsurprising but still wearisome. |
Is it just me or do all the little blonde girls look very "tv"?
|
It seems like they're rushing for this season. The last one in New York was pretty short and uneventful. It just ended like a month ago and now there's going to be another one on in a few weeks.
Real World is getting to be the same thing over and over again. The same stock characters only with different faces. Same script, different cast. The success of the show has given the producers the idea that they need to stick to the same formula for continued success. What they need to do is stick to the original concept and pick seven different types of people, not just different from each other, but different from the past seasons as well. |
as much as the show bores me. i'd love to be on it. if only for the nice house for a couple of months

You ain't said nothin' but a word, squirrely girl! I, too, would like to be on that show, but I have to graduate from college first. I'd like to live in either Philly (my 1st choice), ATL, DC or Charlotte. Anywhere but here in NYC would be a welcome change!!! :D I'd love to see how I'd interact with six other people that live with me. I think it would be an interesting experience....

They are already setting it up for that in the commercial- the blonde girl says- "you're scaring me" and then the camera shoots right to Theo. |

The only Real Worlds I really liked were the first NY season, San Francisco (my all-time favorite) and Miami. London I didn't watch much, Boston irritated me (even with my Soror Kameelah), so did Seattle.
I lived in a "Real World-"style situation in 1989 with nine other folx for a post-graduate program. Big house near the UC-Berkeley campus. We had our share of tension.;) |
Am I the ONLY 1.....
:o Last night's preview was AWFUL.....Coral & Mike?......I'm getting that feeling that this cast will end up with the title "Worst Real World Cast/House".

TempleAlum, i'm there witcha:rolleyes: i think we have another Black male freak on the loose. my Tuskegee friends will be so proud:eek: Aneesa is another Ruthie, a lesbian who can't seem to keep clotheds on(?!). the white folks, well...you know the drill...get some licquor in 'em combined w/hormones, yadda, yadda. this may be as dull as London:p

A friend of mine went to Orlando for the casting call for Real World 12--Las Vegas and she said the exact thing about the white girls looking "tv". If they had a shag hair cut, they were picked, including a former beauty pageant winner. She also said as far as the black men that made the cut (only 2) one was a Lenny kravitz look-alike (hello!) and the "angry black man who just wants to represent" brotha was picked. And one black woman was picked. So yeah...MTV is staying the same, picking the same people, getting the same results as far as drama..."see what happens when people stop being polite..." yeah been there, done that.

Hmmmmm, I wonder what societal issue that will be tackling this time. Let's see, they did AIDS, homophobia, racism, alcoholism, abortion, sexual harrassment (David vs Tammy), interracial dating... Need I go on? But hey, if there's any drama going on, I'm usually watching. OK!?! ;) |
