*Best Of 2001 - Movie Edition*
hey folks! it's time to round up the year of 2001 and i'd like to begin with movies. i've picked out my top 10 movies of 2001.
here i go!! 1. Amelie from montmatre 2. Moulin Rouge 3. a.i.: artificial intelligence 4. shrek 5. apocalypse now 6. bridget jones's diary 7. requiem for a dream 8. memento 9. Planet of the Apes 10. Traffic :p :p :p :p |
For myself, I loved "Traffic" and I'd like to see it again one of these days. I took my daughters to see "Monsters, Inc." and they adored it! I could have taken or left the movie itself but it was worth going just so I could see their reactions to it :)
|
My two favorite movies this year are Bridget Jones' Diary and Harry Potter! :) I also liked A Knight's Tale and Shrek.
|
Some of my favs were Legally Blonde, Monsters Inc., Shrek, and Bridget Jones' Diary
|
Legally Blonde gets my vote!!!
|
In no particular order:
"Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" Even though it couldn't compare to the book, it was still a wonderful movie in its own right. "Shrek" Also nothing like the book, but SO funny. "Monsters, Inc." I haven't laughed so hard since "Toy Story 2" "The Princess Diaries" A little frustrating that they strayed so far from the book, but it was still a cute movie. |
Moulin rouge
BJ Diary Amelie from Montmartre The Others Billy Elliot  |
Honestly, I can't remember which movies came at the beginning of 2001 and which ones date back to Christmas 2000...so, in order not to sound like a blockhead, for right now I will just say Bridget Jones' Diary, Legally Blonde, Knight's Tale, and more recently - Spy Games. I'll do some research and re-post.
15 minutes later... Okay, I would now like to add: Save The Last Dance Sweet November Pearl Harbor and American Pie 2 (for comedic relief) |
In no particular order:
1. Memento 2. Legally Blonde 3. Road Trip 4. American Pie 2 5. Snatch Ok yes, for the most part I like silly movies |
SHREK
LEGALLY BLONDE TRAFFIC HARRY POTTER |
Ahh movies ...
definitely, HARRY POTTER and American Pie 2.
|
The following films are from 2000, not 2001-
Traffic (it won best adapted screenplay at last years Oscars) and Billy Elliot My best of 2001 (and yes, I am writing next week's article on this very topic...) Legally Blonde Memento Bridget Jones Shrek Harry Potter Lord of the Rings Monsters Inc. Kate & Leopold those are the ones I loved the most this past year! |
I didn't see quite as many movies as I would have liked to see this year, but just a comment/new movie to throw out there:
I saw "Ali" last night, and was seriously impressed. I'm not a big Muhammad Ali fan to begin with, but Will Smith did an excellent job, and Michael Mann (he directed "The Insider" too) did a heck of a job directing it. Some of the scenes were incredibly well shot, and the some of the acting jobs were very well done. Now, the historical context wasn't exactly right, as there were some inaccuracies that took away from the movie - overall though, a solid film. Collin |
1. Shrek (cause Mike Myers is Canadian)
2. Memento (tie) 2. Ocean's Eleven (tie) 3. Lord of the Rings 4. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (the original name was released everywhere but the US - you all got 'Sorcerer') 5. A.I. Artificial Intelligence 6. Bridgit Jones Diary (best damn book) 7. Spy Game (Brad AND Bob? Oh YEAH!) 8. A Beautiful Mind - Stupedous! 9. Rush Hour 2 - damn that was funny!!! Okay - that's from movie couch potato up north in Canada :) |
I just saw The Royal Tenenbaums, and it was great! It was a dark comedy, but it was very original. Some of the jokes were more tounge-in-cheek than laugh-out-loud, but the humor was both sophisticated and abundant. Also, judging by the audience reaction, different lines really hit chords with different people.
