I'm seeing conflicting reports. The larger news stations don't seem to be confirming any deaths.. yet.

tinydancer 04-18-2013 12:42 AM

Our local station in Fort Worth has not confirmed any fatalities as of now.

My honest opinion is that they're holding back because of the much-too-quick reporting today of a Boston Marathon bombing suspect being arrested, when in fact, no arrest had been made. All sources seem to be reporting of leveled homes, a nursing home that collapsed, and at least a half dozen buildings on fire. I'm sure we can (sadly) assume correctly that some people have died.

Two confirmed dead.. More deaths expected.. :(

God bless the folks in West. Oh my, I feel like I know them and they are my family. Nobody travels I 35 that doesn't stop in at West for a bit of their hospitality. My heart is so sad.

My heart hurts for West.

From my former career as an agriculture professor I can tell you that fertilizer plants are *incredibly* volatile. I can't even imagine what the blast was like.

This is making a sad week sadder. Praying for everyone there.

Oh, my goodness. I am seeing video of the area on tv for the first time, and there are no words to describe it. I am speechless.

I just found out my company wrote the insurance for West Fertilizer. The underwriter on the account is not having a good day..

But obviously it's not nearly as bad as those who are living through it.

Most news sources are reporting there could be 60 or more dead.. and there are only about 2,500 people in that town. When listening to the radio on my lunch break, someone said, "That would be like 200,000 people dying in NYC."

West is like Cheers.. a place where everyone knows your name. I'm sure it's going to take them a very long time to recover and heal.

:(

Oh God... I just heard heard that it appears that 10 first responders have died in the explosion & fire at the plant :'-( It looks like a war zone.

My friend's parents are from there and had the roof blown off their house, along with doors and windows bashed in. Thankfully everyone's ok but everyone will be rebuilding for awhile :(
