Beta Sigma Phi Long Island??

Hello Ladies

I have some Beta Sigma Phi questions I was hoping you could help me with. I submitted my info to international through the website and I'm sill waiting for contact from a chapter. according to the list posted on the international website there are two chapters in my area XI BETA ETA and LAUR KAPPA but aside from their being included on internationals list of known chapters there is no other information about them.Does any one have any information about these chapters or know if they are still active chapters? Or any advice on how to achieve my goal of becoming a Beta Sigma Phi sister?

Welcome to the Beta Sigma Phi board!

I'm a relatively young new member to Beta, and started a chapter of my own....hard work....but totally worth it. it's almost completely comprised of collegiate women. We call starting a new chapter "Friendly Venturing". If you have six like minded friends, you can also Friendly Venture too.

In answer to your question regarding the two chapters:

If both chapters are listed on the chapter lookup on the International website, then I'd assume they were still active. :D

I can tell by the chapter's names that they are higher degreed chapters, meaning that they were started by women who had been Beta Sigma Phi sisters for at least several years.

Other than that, I'm unsure of other information about them.

Thank You misscherrypie I think I might end up friendly venturing if I can find enough other young women that would be interested in going through the undertaking. Besides the values and traditions upheld by BSP one of the things I found most attractive about Beta Sigma Phi was the opportunity for lifelong sisterhood and friendship outside of college. I left university after two years to go trade school and I wish I had been able to be a part of greek life before I left.

There are quite a few around Long Island, in both Suffolk and Nassau County, have you searched on their website before?

Not a problem. :0

My road to Beta Sigma Phi was filled with twists and turns, but in the end....it was the right place for me. As they say so often on Greek Chat: "You'll end up where you're meant to". I did, and whether you end up as Beta Sigma Phi or as part of any range of organizations....you will too.

What Beta has given me (and I have given to it) is a deeper understanding of myself and my sisters and community, an opportunity to learn and hone leadership skills that I'd never known I had; the opportunity to share in and live by a creed, tradition and rituals that stretches back over eighty years from my sisters to those who came before us, an opportunity to serve others and serve as examples to others in the community and very close friendships and bonds that will last forever.

This is what Beta Sigma Phi has given to me. I hope, if you find your home with us: it will offer you the same kind of joy that it has brought to myself and those around me, and more.

Hi!! Welcome to the board. It can take awhile to get matched with a chapter for a variety of reasons. Hang in there! I hope you'll look into Friendly Venturing if you don't fall in love with a chapter near you.

You can also join through an online chapter. I love my online chapter. We have a wide age range, and we still participate in educational programs, socials, and even community service!

Stay in touch.
Erica
