Best Probate
I attend a school where the majority of the students are white (about 85-90%) and I've been to the probates here, but I've never been to a probate at a HBCU. I've heard they are really tight (I heard Howard really holds it down). I was just wondering what was the best probate you've seen. I'm not asking who has the best probates (I don't want to start any stuff in here), I'm just wondering what's the best you've seen.

The best one I've seen was one the Kappas had last semester on my campus. (Also a really really predominantly white school, so word of the probates spreads like wildfire.) Anyway, their theme was "Things people say about Kappas", and they basically played around with the stereotypes people had of them. It was cool to see they could laugh about it and didn't get hung up on what other people thought. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

That sounds really interesting.. does anyone have any more details??? im always looking for new ideas to start new traditions. Our school is alot younger than most universitys.. my chapter was started on this campus in 1988, would something like that be considered hazing? our panhellenic and our IFC are super strict on all these things. Well if anyone has any details on how one of these probates are done, i would greatly appreciate it! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

The Spring '00 Sigmas were hilarious although they were offensive to almost everyone.
The Alphas held it down when the came out Fall '98/Spring(?) '99 BTW, This is at Morehouse. |
I've never seen a probate before today...the newest members of Zeta Phi Beta did their probate today. I have no frame of reference to explain it, except WOW. Beautifully choreographed, and elegantly done! It was done in the student union, and it was packed.

Back in the day...my school had what was known as pledge presentation. (I know, I know, I said the word pledge, and pledge is for furniture, blabedy, blah etc.) This was done for the NPC sororities' newest members, done between Bid Day and Initiation. It was a semi-formal event held in a ballroom of a hotel or country club. We were announced, given a rose and escorted across the floor by a fraternity or IFC officer. It was very elegant, and it was a special evening for all sororities. I still have the pics and program from my presentation!

That being said, the BEST probate I've ever seen was the Iota Phi Theta Spring 2001 probate at the University of Maryland at College Park (Nu Chapter). The ace played a guitar (that blew everyone away) and they did a version of all the current hip-hop and r&b top songs. They even did some reggae dancehall songs and were HYPE as I have never seen a line be hype before. The guys were in sync with one another, spoke quickly yet were clear and concise. They did not diss any other organizations and received much luv from everyone (especially the sororities). And of course they showed that they can step their butts off. If any of you know anyone from UMCP, aske them if they were there and if they were I bet they will say it was great too. But in all honesty, it was the best probate I have ever seen (and I have seen A LOT) and might end up being the best period. ------------------ Suntzu 1963 Member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. 4-FALL-99 UVA Colony OW OW LIPTTDID W.W.N.O.R.T. http://www.angelfire.com/va2/suntzuipt4uva -"Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. It was a very good show, also, must add, last yr at my old college, the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta had a beeautiful probate, it was too cool. But I must send love to all , because every probate I have seen has always been good, so much love to all from Alpha to Omega

I have to give it up to my sorors from Alpha Chapter (Howard University). Spring 2001 Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Their probate was tight, their info was flawless and the stepping was off the hook.
That was a show to see. I agree with Suntzu1963. Nu chapter held it down at their probate and the blockshow too. |
