Annette Funicello Dies

It's been reported that Annette Funicello has died. If you're not a baby boomer, I can't explain how upsetting that is for us. :(:(:(

OH NO!!!!!! How sad! Though she had suffered from MS for a long time. I remember when Darwin Holt of Alabama tackled Chick Granning at GA Tech breaking his jaw. She came to Atlanta and visited Granning in the hospital. Tech fans REALLY hated us after that......

Her husband let someone do a special on her a few months back and they showed her at present at the end. She hardly looked human but they said she would want to do what she could to raise money for MS research.

Other "major Mouseketeers", such as Cheryl Holdridge and Don Grady, have died in recent years but Annette's death will be the one that hits our generation hardest. She was such a warm person!

I saw that and it was heartbreaking.

Yep - so true. Did you know we have a former Mouseketeer working for the DG Foundation in Columbus?

carnation 04-08-2013 01:18 PM

Who is that?

Hey, I'm not a baby boomer and I'm pretty upset! Loved the Frankie and Annette movies.

You know what's also good, and completely unrelated? The Tammy films.

This was the song that my sister and I adored--it was from one of her serials on the Mickey Mouse Club. This clip shows her in a lot of her roles.

Before SNL, one way to know you'd arrived was to be parodied on The Carol Burnett Show:

I haven't seen that special but I would like to. I adored Annette as I learned about the original Club during the 1970s reruns. To be honest, I loved them all but my favorite was Cheryl. Now we've lost another one. Sad, sad day.

I thought she was an Alpha Chi, but when I did some research I saw some highlight that she was in a group starting with Phi.

I don't think she went to college.

And she was married and pregnant when she filmed a few of her 1964-65 beach films. Yesterday on television they showed How To Stuff A Wild Bikini, and I didn't see her wearing a swimsuit for that reason.

I haven't been able to find any evidence of this, either. I admit that I haven't spent hours looking for it, though.
