time magazine article
hey, i was reading my time magazine today and the editorial was about this guy who witnessed the skull and bones ritual @ yale w/ an infared(sp) camera in the middle of the night. And some other guy,(the write of the article maybe, i cant really remember) went to the "rush" or whatever for P'n'C @ yale also (porn and chicken). anyways it was a really bad depiction of greeks, especially for an ivy league college such as yale. If anyone else read it tell me what u thought. And for anyone who wants to read it, its the newest issue of time and its in the 1st few pages or so. later

I have not read the Time article, but this is not the first time that they have written articles depicting Greeks in a negative light.

ok, skull & bones i've heard of, but "porn & chicken"??
here's the article: http://www.time.com/time/personal/ar...107977,00.html [This message has been edited by 12dn94dst (edited May 09, 2001).] |
ok, after reading that article.. i am still thourghly confused about Yale's greek system... anyone care to explain it?
|
i was wondering about yales greek system too, any explanations anyone?

Maybe we should ask either President Bush. They are both Dekes from Yale.

That article made as much sense as some posts I've seen on GC lately http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif It was jibberish!

I think that the P'n'C people are not Greeks, nor do they consider themselves to be. They are just a group of people with a common interest who hang out. I don't go to Yale or anything, just an observation. But aren't the Deltes is it, at Yale, upset that someone filmed their initiation??? And why would a news crew want to? On one hand we are all "silly, drunken teens" but then they are compelled to get infrared camera's and slither in the grass to film it? I dunno! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

i'm pretty sure the p'n'c thing is satire of the skull & bones fiasco - it's the polar opposite of what the s & b society would represent. I wouldn't worry too much about this depicting greek life in a negative manner; these people aren't greeks, and the article was primarily meant to be a joke i believe.
