Phi Mu Runs Cover Story on AI

I finally got around to reading the current Aglaia, and the cover story features SEVEN women who AI'ed. I don't think the article is online for the public, so I'll try to summarize:

1) Pledged Phi Mu as an undergrad, left school before initiation, later reconnected with the chapter.

2) National president's bio sister (and daughter of another Phi Mu).

3) Grad Assistant in Greek Life who worked with another Phi Mu.

4) Recruited by a close friend (and sounds as though she is faculty at the University where she initiated).

5) Mother of a Phi Mu.

6) Pledged but never initiated, remained close friends with Phi Mus throughout her life.

7) Close friend of a Phi Mu.

It's been my experience that Phi Mu is fairly open to AI, and the sidebar talks about how to get the ball rolling if an existing member wants to recommend an AI, but I'd also note that all of these women had existing Phi Mu connections.

I know two AI's personally; one was the mother of a Phi Mu who initiated when I was a collegian and another was a close friend of a woman in the local AA.

So, overall, I'm glad that my group provides this alternative path to membership for women who didn't initiate as undergrads, but I'm not certain I've made up my mind on women seeking it out on their own.

Just wanted to add that I'm pretty certain that our National President's mother was not a Phi Mu but, instead a member of another sorority. It was mentioned in a release sent out about us colonizing at some school. Glad you posted this though.

Oh, I may have misread it and/or conflated it with our last National President.

Ha, no worries sister! That's easy to do because it seems everyone has some sort of Greek connection. Our last National President is married to an Alpha Chi Rho. They mentioned it at Convention when introducing something about her. One thing that I think is really cool about our current President is (like you and me) she is a graduate of a Big Ten university (Michigan State).
