I live in Sarasota, FL and I'm interested in pledging alumnae chapter of AKA. My mother and sister are members, but I've been reluctant. I'm here to test the climate and seeif it's for me.

I'd say the best way to test the climate for any organization would be to spend time with the members in person. If your mother or sister are active, you should see if it's okay to attend some chapter events with them, like community service projects, luncheons, galas, etc.

On GreekChat, or any other message board, you will only meet the members who enjoy being on the internet, which is a small percentage of the kinds you will meet in person.

Sorry, but this is definitely NOT the place to test the waters for AKA membership. Have you read anything that is in the AKA specific forum on this site? You will not get a warm reception if you ignore their instructions.
