What about UIFI?

My daughter is in a NPC sorority. She has expressed interest in attending UIFI (http://www.nicindy.org/programs/uifi/). The program looks good to me, but I’m a clueless non-Greek dad. My search of GC found a number of “I’m going” messages and a few “It was great” messages from a few years ago. Several Fraternities and Sororities have links to UIFI from their websites. Some Greek organizations apparently have scholarships. Still, I’m interested in getting more up-to-date opinions of GC members regarding UIFI.

As a mom of a young lady in an NPC and a long term national volunteer for my own sorority, it is a fantastic leadership conference! Your daughter will learn leadership skills that will stay with her in the work place in the future. I highly recommend it.

I concur. Some groups offer scholarships for members to attend and sometimes there are limited funds available through the college/university.

Yes, yes, yes, yes!

It's a wonderful program - definitely encourage your daughter to do it!

I went in 2011, and it has decidedly been the most rewarding opportunity of my sorority experience to date! I feel it gave me a new sense of purpose, both as a Greek woman and a member of society--not to mention it was a lot of fun, too. I hope your daughter is able to go!

Thanks so much for the responses. We were trying to understand what kind of parental support was appropriate. Our daughter has applied for a scholarship to the event. We’ll see if that works out, but I think she plans to go even if she does not receive a scholarship.

Sorority participation has given our daughter so many great leadership opportunities while providing growth through training and mentoring. Becoming more involved in Panhellenic leadership at her school has just further enhanced her experience.

Thank you.
