Another Badge Thread: Are You Allowed to Wear Yours as Something Other than a Badge

We aren't; it has to be worn as a Badge. Which is kind of a shame because I would get to wear mine a lot more if I could mount it on a pendant or something.

Unless the policy has changed since I graduated, Sigma Kappa allows alumnae (not active collegiate members) to wear their badges as pendants or rings. We sometimes went together and about badge holders for graduates in our Greek family.

A post straight from the DG blog on when and how to wear our badge

In short: as long as you look presentable and represent Delta Gamma with pride, you may wear the badge however you'd like. Some chapters have bylaws that govern how to wear it on campus, but otherwise I would assume the national rules apply. I know in my chapter we only recently found out we could wear it outside of formal chapter attire and ritual, and now many sisters have opted to wear it on a chain as a necklace when it doesn't need to be formally pinned.

Yes we can (pendant, ring, charm).

KR - maybe you can launch a campaign to have this changed by Delta Zeta? I think your badge would make a very pretty ring. And it would be lovely in a badge holder pendant...

No. There is a very specific way to wear our badge. It gets pinned to your shirt (which must be oxford style and include a tie) where the thumb falls when you take the Pledge of Allegiance. It is not even to be worn as a lapel pin. We have lapel pins which are designed to be lapel pins.

I'm sure this varies from chapter to chapter, but we're pretty conservative.

Nope. Badge only on business/meeting/formal attire.

Unless things have changed in the last two years: Kappa Deltas alumnae are allowed to wear their badge as a pendant or as a ring. Collegians are not allowed. One should be in "pin attire" also known as business/meeting/formal attire.

I'm not aware of any options for Alpha Xi Delta. But then in most cases, because of the shape we'd probably have to disfigure it, and that wouldn't be cool.

We have this:

https://hjgreek.com/index.cfm?event=...ategory_ID=413

Which is not an actual badge but looks exactly like our badge. To clarify--I don't believe we have an option to mount out badge onto anything, but we do have jewelry that looks like our badge.

There's also this:

https://hjgreek.com/index.cfm?event=...oduct_ID=10133

Which again is not an actual badge, but looks like it. I was thinking about seeing if I could get this but customized without the letters so it's a little more subtle.

But then I got this: http://shop.stelladot.com/style/b2c_...ring-gold.html

Not official, but it works :)

Sometimes I think about making my badge into a nipple ring.

You guys need to connect with AZ-Alpha Xi. She has a quill ring AND she had a standard quill that yours truly gave her as a b-day gift made into a necklace. It's BEAUTIFUL. Hard to describe but what she had the jeweler do was remove the clasp and attach rings to either end of the quill. Then a very dainty chain attached to those rings; when she wears it, it's "correct" (the point is lower than the feathers). I love it.

Oh good grief, it looks like the HJGreek quill choker necklace. I hope I didn't get her in trouble. I'll take the heat.

IUHoosiergirl88 03-14-2013 06:46 PM

We're allowed to wear ours as a pendant or a ring--HJGreek sells conversion kits. The necklace one is supposed to be permanent, which is why I haven't gotten mine done yet

You could put your Badge one one, and the guard on the other! Although I guess you'd have to have an extra long guard chain made...
