Tweaking the search engine
 

PiPhiAlum mentioned on another thread that it takes forever to search the 150 forums on here. Yes it certainly does!! You can, however, search on only one forum. But it took me a LONG time to figure that out.

John - is there any way the default on the search engine could be changed to search the Greek life forum only, or changed so that you have to pick a specific forum? This might cut down on searching frustrations. Thanks!!!

If anyone has any other ideas please add!!

33Girl- If you click on search when you are reading a post, the search feature automatically defaults to the forum you are in. If you want to pick a specific forum to search, then use this link: Search

Why is it that after the search is complete, and I try to click on certain threads that are brought up, they won't open? Then when I look back through the pages to find that thread it isn't there?

One reason could be that the thread was deleted or moved into the archives by John. You've been here long enough to see some of the threads that got out of hand. Many of those threads have been placed in the Admin forum where only Administrators have access to.

If that's the case then clicking on that link takes you directly to the www.greekchat.com page.

Is there a way to do a search on University of XYZ and have it list every thread in each forum that has UofXYZ in it? Currently you have to search Greek Life, then you have to search Rush for UofXYZ, then you have to search Academics for UofXYZ, etc.
