New Member / Pledge Pins
I seem to recall a picture of all 26 NPC orgs new member pins, I cannot find it! I have searched here and used google, all I keep getting is the graphic with the whistles! Haha! Can anyone help me?

Funny, I remember seeing a photo too...maybe it was in the old DG pledge manual I have from my mom's time as a DG (I'll look tomorrow and scan it if that's where I saw it). In the meantime, here is DG's pledge pin:

While not the poster I think you're looking for, the NPC Manual of Information (aka green book) has pictures of all the badges and new member pins with the information on each member group.

Kind of relevant, I remember seeing this on Chi Omega's National Facebook. These are pledge pins from the 1920's - 30's. I know Chi Omega's is still the same! And I believe that the Zeta one is the same or similar, and the Delta Sigma Phi one is the same.

That Delta Chi pin is outdated, the current Associate Member pin looks slightly different.

Psi Us is the same. And I love the Tri Delta triforce.

The ADPi pin has a unicorn on it instead of a lion in that picture. :) LOL at Scabbard and Blade. My dad is Scabbard and Blade.

Those pins are pre1959. I wonder how many have changed. I know for me phi kappa and they'd kappa phi merged, I noticed someone said delta chi as well

I do like the sigma kappa pin though

Enjoyed Katee’s post showing many now gone or merged groups. It interested me that the three pages of fraternity, sorority and other college organization new members pins show many groups share symbols, like the star, crescent, clasped hands, snake, lamp, scroll, crown and torch. Eight groups chose a variation of a diamond shape shield cut vertically with one color on top and another on the bottom and Alpha Gamma Rho and AOPi share the sheaf of wheat.

The illustration of the Alpha Gamma Delta pin is incorrect -- could it be imperfect color printing? The heraldic description is, "On a shield, parti per pale, or and vert, a fess gules" -- translation: "On a shield, divided in half (gold and green), a red crossbar."
Perhaps it was originally just red and green, but founder Emily Butterfield actually wrote the book on fraternity heraldry and I can't imagine that she would have omitted the buff (yellow). The size of the pin changed during my collegiate years. The old ones were tiny (3/8" or so). The new (current) ones are about 5/8". |

Cool Topic!
Quote:
"Coat of Arms Elizabeth Moseley Coles, who was elected national president at the first grand convention, was responsible for having the coat of arms designed. Another sister of Alpha chapter, Agnes Chapman, is given credit for the actual design of our coat of arms. Symbolism from our ritual and our Alpha pin were combined in the coat of arms, and the design originally had a background of violets. In 1919, the convention body voted to make changes and the present design was accepted." |
