Greek Life at NIU
 

Hi everyone!
I'm a freshman at Northern Illinois University this spring, and I just don't know much about the greeks here. All the talk about sisterhood sounds great, but I'd like to know more. Like, which sororities are more about service and sisterhood, and less about tons of partying. (My two best friends from HS joined frats, and their grades really suffered) So if anyone could offer some info, that would be great! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Our chapter at NIU closed awhile ago. I really don't know why though, because I know they had a really large sisterhood.

There is an ADPi chapter there, I went to ISU, but the ones I knew were great. They werent total partiers but not total geeks either. My sister went to NIU, but she wasn't Greek, so I'm not sure about any of the other houses, sorry!

there's a TriSigs,Delta Gamma,AOPi,ASA,Delta Zeta,Alpha Pi also...im friends with 2 DGs and know an AOPi but Im not in a sorority, im in a business fraternity (Pi Sigma Epsilon). From my experience with the Greek community, i think most of the "partiers" or "geeks" or whatever are just stereotypes. just go through rush and meet the girls coz surely u'll meet someone who will break the stereotype. and it's not what is the "right" organization, it's what right for YOU. if the mutual chemistry is there. =) Hope I was of help!
