I freaking love my new job...
 

OK, so I had been outta work since June, and things were getting really tight. Well I have sent out about 10,000 apps. to design firms (I am a graphic artist). I finally get hired by this new graphic design firm and was really releaved. Today was my first full day and it has been crazy. I love the job. They are just starting out, and I got to help them formulate the mission statement, business profile and marketing tools. TOO COOL.

Theres my co-workers. Finally I work someplace where the people are the same age as me, and listen to the same music as I do. Its a really trendy dot-com type joint thats located in a refurbished whaerhouse loft (parts of it are really scary and are freddie kruegerish). I have complete design freedom, my co-workers are fun and it is always chaos in here. I have been here since 9am, and it is now midnight. Were listening to 80's retro-hits, my boss bought pizza and beer and we are still working. Today I met two city councilmen, the mayor, and my boss brought his dog to the office today.

I am really glad to have found this place and it is SUCH a change from the last place I worked. (A school district where everyone was, well, former school teacher librarians). I FIT here. This holiday season I am very grateful for this job.

Sounds a little like my company, actually - I work for a dot.com (even though we've dropped the .com part of our name), I love the work I do (most days :) ) and I have great coworkers - and we even have beer on tap :) It would be great if our annual raises hadn't just been cancelled :( but hey, in this economy, those of us with jobs at all, let alone jobs we like, are very lucky.
